Shotokan - Our Karate Style

We practice and teach the style of Karate known as Shotokan.

Karate originated in the Ryukyu Kingdom islands, known as modern day Okinawa, as early as the 14th century.

Karate was introduced to mainland Japan at the turn of the 20th century. One of those who helped with that introduction was Gichin Funakoshi - a poet and schoolteacher, whose pen name was "Shoto".  The style he introduced became known as Shotokan as is the most widely style of karate practiced today.
