Hi Everyone,

I hope that you are all well. Please find attached the Entry Form for the upcoming National Championships. It's been a while since we've run a tournament so looking forward to seeing everyone.

A few things to note:

  1. Please can club instructors ensure that any student competing has a 2022 licence. No licence then no competing.
  2. The Closing date for Entries is Wednesday 20th April. All entries must be submitted on or before the 20th April. Any received after this won't be processed.
  3. If a student puts an entry in and you bring cash with you on the day and they are a no show then you will still need to pay.
  4. We have tried to encourage more younger students and lower graded students to participate and so have included a few new events.
  5. Mixed Tigers (Children 6-8 Years) “Tag” Kumite. In order to score a point they will need to pull a coloured tag out of the front of their opponent’s belt. Scoring is Shobu Ippon (2 Points), 1 Point will be rewarded for each time an opponent is the first to successfully pull the tag from the opposition.
  6. Mixed Kumite (9-11 Years) “Tap” Kumite. Mitts aren’t required and in order to score a point they will need to tap (with control) an opponent’s Shoulder. Shobu Ippon (2 Points), 1 Point will be rewarded for each time the competitor scores first.
  7. Junior Graded Students - Both Adults and Junior (Under 18 Years) Kumite has been split into more grade appropriate categories to encourage lower graded students to participate without the fear of coming up against more experienced senior grades and the same with the adults.
  8. Please be mindful that some events may have to merge if there aren't enough competitors but I will notify club instructors if this is the case.
  9. Regional Team Event - This has been updated so that it is 1 competitor for each category, previously we had 2 Senior Male Kumite competitors, however we have changed this to 1 and introduced a Child Kata (Under 16 years) for White to Green Belts. This again is highlighting that we want to encourage children to participate and as mixed graded students attend Regional Squad Sessions, this allows them to also participate in a Team Event along with everyone else.
  10. For all Junior Jiyu Kumite Events (12-17 Years) students must where a gumshield and mitts. They can score Jodan or Chudan, however, Jodan attacks must be controlled (ZERO CONTACT) and points will only be awarded if they Kiai - no kiai, then no point will be rewarded. This will all be discussed with all judges and referees on the day.
  11. Entry Submission: Can be sent electronically with entry forms attached to the following email address skifgreatbritain@gmail.com
  12. Bank Transfers are accepted, but please ensure that they are referenced with either the Club or Competitors name so that we can cross reference the payment.

Please can you ensure that all parents and students are advised of the requirements for their events i.e. gumshields and mitts if necessary etc.

If you have any questions then do not hesitate to contact me. Please can all club instructors circulate this information around your students.
