Dear All,

Firstly Happy New Year to you, we hope this email finds you and your families all fit and well? Secondly, apologies in the delay in getting the 2022 Calendar and Renewal Forms out to you, we have been waiting on a number of confirmations from Instructors and with COVID - and the uncertainty around restrictions and potential lockdowns etc. It has taken slightly longer than we would have liked to get confirmations and venue's sorted. We are still in the process of sorting a number of Kyu Gradings out as well and so again will confirm these once done.

Please find attached the following forms for 2022:

  1. SKI Calendar - Please note that we are still waiting on a final date for the Autumn Course, however it is likely to be from the end of October or possibly November or early December. As soon as we know, I will of course relay the information on to you all.
  2. Club Affiliation Form
  3. Licence Renewal Form
  4. East Midlands Kyu Grading Form

Visiting International Instructors:

The attendance of International Instructors to teach on courses is very much determined on where we are with the pandemic at that particular time - what variants to the virus there are and whatever restrictions there may be. So we hope that everything works in our favour and we are able to run the schedule as planned. But we will of course notify if there are any changes.

We have confirmed the 48th Annual SKI-GB Summer Gasshuku with Kancho Kanazawa, and we really hope that he will make it over to us in July, so please save the date.

SAVE THE DATE(s):

48th Annual SKIF-GB Summer Gasshuku with Kancho Kanazawa

15th SKIEF European Championship, 'S-Hertogenbosch, Holland:

Whilst the OC are adamant, that the Euro's will definitely be going ahead from the 27th - 31st July, we still think that there is some uncertainty with the running of this tournament. They have advised that it will not go ahead if the Government place Holland in Lockdown or that it isn't possible for International Travel. Holland currently are still in lockdown and have been since the beginning of December, and they haven't rolled out any form of Booster Vaccine to the latest Omicrom variant yet. This is naturally a big concern for us as a Federation and the safety, health and wellbeing of all our competitors, instructors and families has always been at the forefront of any decisions made and that remains so. There are still many grey areas concerning the timing and running of this tournament and we are still no further forward with making a decision on if we will send a Squad. We believe that there are other European Countries who share these concerns as well and we are waiting for further clarity on the situation.

It has been an incredibly difficult time for everyone the past 2 years, something that no one could have envisaged - there has been many disruptions to training and clubs at a National level and we do appreciate the perseverance and patient of our instructors and members - Thank you for sticking with it, adapting to the challenging times, and coming up with new ways to keep your clubs and members together training - even if at times its been in a virtual sense. We want nothing more than to return to "normal" and to move forwards, but we still must be careful as a Federation and think about the students and their families.

If you have any questions then do not hesitate to contact me. Please can all club instructors circulate this information around your students and ensure that all students who are training with them take out a Licence each calendar year.
