Hi Everyone,

Firstly, apologies for the delay getting this information out to you, I have been chasing a number of people up as the Guidelines weren’t clear, and the last thing we wanted was to send a communication out and it not be clear to all involved.

Secondly, I hope that this email finds you and your families and students all fit and well? As the England Lockdown comes to an end on the 2nd December please be aware of the new Tiered Restrictions that will come into force as of the 3rd December in England. Scotland and Wales have their own Restrictions please follow the relevant Government Guidance for each Country (See Below)

For all the clubs in England it is imperative that you follow the rules that apply to your Tier in your Area.

Tier 1:

  • Organised Indoor Sport, Physical Activity & Exercise Classes can continue to take place, if the rule of 6 is followed. There are exceptions for Indoor Physcial Activity for Under 18's, which can take place with larger groups mixing.
  • Organised Outdoor Sport, Physical Activity & Exercise Classes can continue.

Therefore Karate Classes may continue in the Dojo, with no more than 6 people training. Or if all Students training are under the age of 18 years.

Outdoor Training can continue with higher numbers but obviously considering the time of the year and weather conditions - this is unlikely to be practical.

Tier 2:

This is for Areas with a Higher or Rapidly Rising Level of Infections, where some additional Restrictions need to be in place.

  • Organised Indoor Sport, Physical Activity & Exercise Classes will only be permitted if it is possible for people to avoid mixing with people they do not live with (or share a Support Bubble with). Again there are exceptions for Physical Activity for Under 18s, which can take place with larger groups mixing.
  • Organised Outdoor Sport, Physical Activity & Exercise Classes can continue.

Therefore Karate Classes in the Dojo can only take place if the Rule of 6 is followed and it is possible for people to avoid mixing with people they do not live with or share a Support Bubble with. Or all Students training are under the age of 18 Years (i.e. no Adults)

Outdoor Training can continue with higher numbers but obviously considering the time of the year and weather conditions - this is unlikely to be practical.

Tier 3:

This is for Areas with a very high or very rapidly rising Level of Infections, where tighter Restrictions are in place.

  • Organised Indoor Sport, Physical Activity & Exercise Classes CANNOT take place Indoors. Again there are exceptions for Physical Activity for under 18s.

  • Organised Outdoor Sport, Physical Activity & Exercise Classes can continue, however higher risk contact activity should not take place.

Therefore Karate Classes in the Dojo are not permitted unless all Students training are under the age of 18 Years (i.e. no Adults)

Outdoor Training can continue with higher numbers but obviously considering the time of the year and weather conditions - this is unlikely to be practical.

As always please refer to the "Dojo ni Kaeru" Guidelines as already published, however these additional restrictions must now be taken into account for all future training, until further notice. We are told that there will be Government Review of the Restrictions and Tiers on the 16th December, and we will therefore update you all accordingly.

Remember if you are Training in the Dojo:

  1. Separate Entrance and Exits into the Dojo (Wherever possible - speak to your Facilities Provider)
  2. Regular use of appropriate Hand Sanitiser and Washing of Hands for 20 seconds before and after training
  3. Everyone should arrive to training in their Gi, limit the use of the changing rooms to get changed and no showering
  4. Suitable Footwear to train in - nobody should be barefoot due to contamination and the risks
  5. 2 Metre Social Distancing in the dojo at all Times
  6. No physical contact at all in the Dojo - Kihon and Kata only
  7. No congregating of students and parents before, during or after training - everyone should disperse promptly following the conclusion of the Lesson in a socially distanced manner

As Instructors it is important that YOU control the Risk, keep the infection risk low and do not allow for any unnecessary risks.

Thank you for your continued cooperation, and if you have any questions then do not hesitate to contact me. Please ensure that all instructors in your club that teach are made aware of the above.

Stay Safe, Respect the Guidelines & See you in the Dojo
