The grading process is an important milestone in every karateka’s journey — an opportunity to demonstrate progress in kihon (basics), kumite (sparring application), and kata (formal patterns), while developing confidence, focus, and spirit under pressure.
Students will be assessed in a supportive but disciplined environment, reflecting the traditional values of Shotokan karate and the standards expected within SKIF.
Whether stepping onto the floor for a first mon grade or progressing through the kyu syllabus, every grading represents another step forward along the karate path.
Your dojo instructor will advice you approximately one week beforehand if you are eligible to grade at this time.
