Hi Everyone,

Please find attached the Entry Form for the upcoming National Championships in April.

A few things to note:

  1. Please can club instructors ensure that any student competing has a 2024 licence. No licence then no competing.
  2. The Closing date for Entries is Monday 15th April. All entries must be submitted on or before this datel. Any received after this won't be processed.
  3. If a student puts an entry in and you bring cash with you on the day and they are a no show then you will still need to pay.
  4. We have tried to encourage more younger students and lower graded students to participate and so have included a few new events.
  5. Mixed Tigers (Children 5-8 Years) “Tag” Kumite. In order to score a point they will need to pull a coloured tag out of the front of their opponent’s belt. Scoring is Shobu Ippon (2 Points), 1 Point will be rewarded for each time an opponent is the first to successfully pull the tag from the opposition.
  6. Kata Events, to give students as much experience as possible we will be including Individual Kata at the Spring Championships, in the hope that this raises the standard within the organisation as well. For Junior Kata (Grade & Age), students will only be given a Heian Kata that reflects the lowest graded student in the rounds current belt. E.G if there is a yellow belt v a Purple and White belt then only Heian Nidan or below can be given. We understand that some students may have recently graded and may not know 100% their next Kata so this rule will reflect this.
  7. Please be mindful that some events may have to merge if there aren't enough competitors but I will notify club instructors if this is the case.
  8. Mixed Jiyu Kumite (10-11 Years) 3rd Kyu +: Chuden Techniques only (Mitts & Gumshield is required)
  9. Male & Female Kumite 12-15 Years both Chudan and Jodan techniques are permitted, control must be exercised and ZERO contact on the Jodan techniques. Points will only be awarded if they Kiai - no kiai, then no point will be rewarded. This will all be discussed with all judges and referees on the day.

Regional Team Event:

  • 2 x Senior Male Kumite (16 years +)
  • 1 x Master Male Kumite (40 Years + & 3rd Kyu and above)
  • 1 x Female Kumite (16 Years +)
  • 1 x Male Kumite (13-15 years)
  • 1 x Adult Kata (16 Years +, 3rd Kyu & Above, Mixed Sex)

Please can you ensure that all parents and students are advised of the requirements for their events i.e. gumshields and mitts if necessary etc.

If you have any questions then do not hesitate to contact me. Please can all club instructors circulate this information around your students.

We look forward to seeing you in April.
