After our 30th Anniversary Seminar with Sensei Dave Kershaw and Sensei Dorian Fretwell, we return to St Bede’s Catholic College for our next Kyōtō Kyu & Mon Grading.
Taking place on Sunday 11th October 2026, the grading provides students with the opportunity to demonstrate the progress they have made through their regular training in kihon, kumite and kata.

As always, grading is not simply about reaching the next belt. It is an opportunity to demonstrate improvement, understanding and the ability to perform what has been learned in the dōjō under a little additional pressure.
Students should not assume that they will automatically be grading. I will be assessing progress during regular classes and will let students know whether they are eligible to attempt their next grade around a week before the event.
Coming immediately after our 30th Anniversary Seminar, it promises to be a busy weekend of karate and a fitting opportunity for students to put some of that weekend’s training and inspiration into practice.
