SKIF-GB Karate seminars/courses; competitions and more - calendar for 2026

Kyoto Shotokan Karate Dojo was honoured to be represented at the BBC Radio Bristol Make a Difference Awards 2025, where Chief Instructor, Sensei Steve Ashby, attended as a finalist in the Active Award category.

Following the announcement that Kyoto Shotokan Karate Dojo’s Chief Instructor, Sensei Steve Ashby, has been named a finalist in the Active Award category, BBC Radio Bristol will be sharing finalist stories on air in the lead-up to the Make a Difference Awards 2025.

On Saturday 21st June 2025, Kyōtō Shotokan Karate Dojo once again had the privilege of hosting Paul Mead Sensei (8th Dan) for a special seminar at St Bede’s Catholic College Sports Complex in Bristol.

The 51st Annual SKIF-GB Summer Gasshuku to be held in July 2025

Hanshi Shiro Asano was awarded Jū Dan (10th Dan) at the Opening Ceremony of the 16th SKIEF European Championships in Crete, recognising a lifetime of dedication and service to Shotokan Karate. For the SKIF-GB family and Kyōtō members, it was a proud and historic moment.

After more than 30 years at Lower Spring Street, Konjaku Shin’s iconic Grimsby dōjō closed its doors with a final seminar led by founder Dave Kershaw Sensei, Dan gradings, and an evening spent celebrating the people, memories and legacy that have shaped the club since 1978.
